I started today intending to photograph the theme “trees,” but I came across these kids in some kind of daycare program at a park where I was shooting a eucalyptus and their curiosity made me change my mind. So photogenic!
The photo on the bus is a few days old. The granddaughter and grandmother (we’re guessing) were speaking English, not Spanish to one another. Maybe from the Caribbean?

The kid in the red sweatshirt looks a bit like Jo.
Somehow photos of kids are way easier to be pleased with than photos of adults. I'm not sure if it's something about how kids are less self-conscious, or perhaps you/any photographer is less embarrassed to photograph kids than adults because it is more socially acceptable to find kids photograph-able.
I think it is the way the subjects react. Those kids in the first photo saw me taking pictures (of trees). They were interested, engaged, and unself-conscious when I indicated that I wanted to take their picture. The kid in the middle and the one one the left have expressions that seem transparent. They are taking in all that they see, curious, and learning by observation and without judgment. Adults always have something more going on inside and the eyes don't lie.
