Ranas

15 February 2009

Today, our main outing was to visit the Ranario in Santa Elena, where about 20 different species of frogs and toads are kept in terraria. The admission price is good for two visits on the same day, one guided. Because the frogs are more active at night, we chose to look on or own in the morning and then have a guide walk us through in the evening.

During the daytime visit, it was hard work for us to see any of the frogs. At night, though, and especially with the guide’s help, it was quite interesting and fun. I shot both daytime and nighttime photos. The latter — by flashlight (!!) — came out better, mostly because some of the frogs were on the glass walls of the terraria.
