Cloud forest "closeups"
12 March 2009
I haven’t posted many of the cloud forest photos I’ve shot. The “scenes” are so full. It is hard to compose a good shot in the presence of so much vegetation. The one strategy that I’ve used (to excess) is Ingrid or Daniela walking along a winding path through lush vegetation. It’s a good strategy, but it worked best when Ingrid wore her red sweater. This last weekend the cloud forest reserve was very wet and both Ingrid and Daniela wore dark blue rain jackets -- good for their rain protection, not so good for the aesthetics of photography.
The close-ups -- on the other hand – don’t suffer from these compositional problems. Instead, the challenge is having enough light to take good pictures. It is an easier challenge to overcome and so here are three shots from this past weekend of things that caught my eye for their detail.
I may still post some scenes. Sometimes I need a bit of distance (in time) from my pictures to recognize what I like.
