It's an East Bay tradition to cycle up Mt Diablo on New Year's Day. At the top, someone estimated that today there would be 800 cyclists making the climb and maybe 500 cars driving in. The weather was unusually warm and almost all the interactions were cheerful. We took it slow — I logged 28 miles for the R/T with 3500 feet of climbing in about 3 h of seat time spread over a 5-h outing.
