Ingrid and I joined Shanel, Dallas, Steve, Leza, Joshua and Mitchell (and Duke!) for a delicious Thanksgiving Day feast in Davis. Meanwhile, Daniela marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City as part of the Alameda Tap Dancing Christmas Trees. (We're also thinking about Rani in Tokyo and about Alexis and family in Kiel on this great family holiday.) There is lots for which to be thankful!

Washington DC before the election …
It was a beautiful autumn weekend in Washington, DC. On Saturday, we visited the Smithsonian Natural History Museum, spending the most time in a special exhibit of photographs of nature. Wow! We also walked to the major monuments on the mall and were inspired by the words of Lincoln, King, Jefferson, and Roosevelt. This day was a satisfying antidote for the poison of this interminable presidential election cycle.

No Man's Land
That's the name of this season's special exhibit at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC. You can learn about the exhibit online here. We visited today. Some of these pictures are from the special exhibit; others are from the permanent collection. It's a fun museum to visit in part because of its distinctive focus and in part because it is small enough to be thoroughly visited in just a few hours.
