We're staying a few nights at the Double Eagle Resort near June Lake. The trailhead for this morning's hike was about a 30 minute drive (the last half covering only 2 miles on a washboard dirt road). The trail took us on an out-and-back to Parker Lake (elevation 8313 ft), just inside the Ansel Adams Wilderness area. Total distance only 4 miles, with moderate climbing (630 feet) only for about a mile heading in. Highlights: golden quaking aspen, lovely alpine lake, and nice views of Mono Lake in the distance on the return.
