Vernal Fall
It was interesting and fun to see Vernal Fall in the winter time with light water flow. The Mist Trail was dry. People hiked off trail to get a closer look. For reference, I'm also posting a photo from summer 2010, when the falls were flush. Compare the first photo of this post (January 2014) to the last photo (June 2010). Both were shot from the John Muir trail a short hike above the top of Vernal Fall.

Happy New Year!
We joined the cycling throng for the traditional New Year's Day ride up Mt. Diablo. Start in Danville. Climb 3500 feet in 14 miles to the summit. The weather was perfect. The crowd was the biggest we've ever seen. We've now done this ride 4 times on New Year's Day, each even numbered year since 2008.
