Oakland's Lake Merritt

Slate-gray sky reflects off the surface of this urban lake.
Lake water quality seems better and we see more shore birds.
Tiny wedges of color plus subtle textures punctuate a gray canvas.

End of Fall Semester 2010

Japanese maples on campus are especially colorful this year
Especially around the engineering buildings
Ginkgos are spectacular, too!
Same trees as in the previous photo, shot from Davis Hall
Cal Women won their opening NCAA match against Utah State
Oski joined in the cheers (photo credit to Ingrid)

Reflections at Bay Fair Island

Late afternoon sun generates intense reflected colors in this shaded waterway.

I love the impressionistic look of the fine-scale texture on the water surface.

Bay Fair Island has many lovely properties along an inland waterway.

This pedestrian/bike only bridge connects Bay Fair Island to Alameda.

Oakland: Jingletown

After several years, Ingrid convinced me to ride to Jingletown.
The live-work artist enclave is in the heart of industrial Oakland.
One of the highlights: Mosaics on the outsides of buildings.

November ride to Grizzly Peak

Sunny skies despite weekend rains; good day for a ride!

Along Old Tunnel Road: a village of lookalike townhouses

Excellent views from the ridge line, including Mount Tam!

After the descent back to campus: Coffee break!
